Gloria Maresma-Cheney, MS, LMHC, LMFT

Meet Gloria - Gloria is our traveling and telephone therapist, she works at the Hiawassee office and oftentimes throughout the country.

Gloria Maresma-Cheney is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Mental Health Counselor. Her areas of specialty include Life Coaching & Relationship Strategizing, Employee Assistance, couples and family therapy, gender issues, women’s issues, self-esteem and communication issues. She focuses her energy on being a guide to her clients, to lead them to a more authentic self. 

The therapeutic relationship is a partnership. With her as their guide the client realizes they are an expert on themselves. She helps guide them back to their emotional toolbox and then helps them determine what happens next. Sometimes the old tools just need a little sharpening and sometimes one needs some new tools. Basically, we find what works and put aside the rest. 

Gloria is bilingual and has over 28 years’ experience. She is Board Certified Diplomat of the American Board of Sexology, a Diplomat of the National Association of Sports Counselors, a Professor at Valencia College and an approved supervisor for both counseling and marriage and family interns. Gloria has a private practice in Orlando. She is on most insurance panels and is an Employee Assistance Program provider for most of the major companies in the Orlando area. She conducts seminars, workshops and presented on Healthy Relationships at the Woman to Woman Conference in '96. 

She also provides consultation services to our services members both in country and overseas as a Military and Family Life Consultant. Gloria has an eclectic approach to counseling. As stated above, the therapeutic relationship is a partnership in the well-being and growth of the client. She will assist her clients on their journey of transformation through self-challenging and the stretching of emotional muscles. Gloria accepts most major insurances.
