Melissa McCormick, MA, LMHC
Meet Melissa - She works in our downtown Orlando office.
I operate off of the belief that people are capable, resilient, and hard wired for meaning and purpose. When someone feels like they are incongruent with themselves, that can be very distressing. If you are feeling this discomfort for any reason, you are deserving of help.
I have experience treating eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, avoidant restrictive food intake disorder, and body image distress. I also have experience with substance use disorders, trauma healing, adjustments, grief, depression, and anxiety. I am an ally of LGBT-Q and other marginalized/minority communities.
I also work with children (age 4+) going through adjustment difficulties such as divorce, loss, or other transitions. Children can show difficulty with these transitions in a variety of ways, such as tearfulness, anger issues, tantrums, or other changes in their behavior. I am experienced with play and expressive therapy.
